The Homework Feature Ad, created to support the launch of Preply's Homework feature (a major company-wide priority) was showcased inside the Preply webapp for tutors worldwide. Working closely with the Product team, our aim was to build an engaging narrative around the feature while driving measurable adoption, leaning into a warm, reassuring tone to help tutors feel confident picking it up. While I can't share specific metrics publicly, it was a clear success internally, building up on how motion design can drive our target metrics upwards.
I led this project end-to-end on the brand side: managing stakeholders, building the creative skeleton for the copywriting team, designing and storyboarding the concept, and animating it with placeholder sound design that our editors used to work on the final SFX. A great collaborative exercise, and one of my favorite projects to work on this year.
A few key creative decisions shaped the spot from the outset. I wanted to incorporate live footage alongside motion, not rely on animation alone, and this helped humanize a feature that leans heavily on AI. One of our core goals was making sure tutors felt the power was in their hands, that this tool boosts them rather than replaces their decisions, and you can see it throughout the use of both footage and cursors making decisions throughout the entire ad. Weaving in footage also kept the brand's human values front and center.
Beyond that, we highlighted the feature's key moments in an engaging way: simplified UI to showcase interactions clearly, paired with our signature gradients to signal AI throughout the spot.
